Open-Horizons is the new Novell community, bringing together
customers, partners and Novell principally in the EMEA region. In 2008 Open-Horizons events were attended by
over 1800 people in 17 countries. 2009 will see further expansion of the
organisation, along with the creation of the Open Horizons Foundation which
will be the administrative hub for the national groups that comprise Open-Horizons.
Open-Horizons organises a number of one day conferences and two day
summits that consist of practical hands-on training.
Open-Horizons magazine, published quarterly, has rapidly established
itself as a top journal for technical content in the Novell environment.
In the UK, the Groupware User Group was the independent forum
for users of Novell GroupWise since the mid 1990's. In 2009 it affiliated to Open-Horizons
and rebranded itself with the new name as well as expanding its interests to cover
Linux (SLES/OES/SLED), ZENworks, Teaming+ Conferencing as well as
GroupWise.It continues to run quarterly
events (that are an excellent opportunity to meet people 'in the know' from
Novell and elsewhwere) and hosts the UK leg of the EMEA Tour and Summit.
Membership of Open-Horizons UK includes free
attendance at the scheduled single day conferences, discount to training in the
UK EMEA Summit and a subscription to Open-Horizons
magazine.
In 2009 a personal membership costs just £120, while corporate
memebrship starts from £200 which enables any two members of staff to attend
and take advantage of the Open-Horizons benefits.
